DJ Bravo excelled with the ball bowling a brilliant five-for and CL White scored unbeaten 79 not out. Renegades, despite losing their best batsman and the skipper on the second delivery fought back and won the match comprehensively.
Aaron Finch, Renegades captain invited Hobart Hurricanes to bat first. The openers for Hobart batted nicely in the powerplay scoring 53 runs. AJ Doolan was the first one down when he played an outside edge which landed straight in the hand of third-man. DJM Short also did not stay long in the crease after his partner departed. Trying a sweep, he fell LBW to Hogg. BR McDermott played a quick inning of 34 for 24 deliveries and remained top-scorer of the match. DJ Bravo gave an excellent spell of 5 for 28 in 4 overs. He has also achieved landmark of 400th T-20 innings on the last ball of Hurricanes inning. Muhammad Nabi was also phenomenal with the ball in the match. His figures are 1 for 25 in 4 overs.
In response, Renegades lost their dependable man on the 2nd ball of the inning. Aaron Finch, who is captaining the side, in trying a slog-sweep, top edged to Rose and Wade took the catch to dismiss him. But then, MS Harris and CL White took the charge for the team. Both the players batted beautifully and after a century stand, MS Harris lost his wicket to Archer. Archer struck in the same over to dismiss TLW Cooper on the last ball. In Came BJ Hogg. CL White played a master inning of 79 of 59 deliveries with BJ Hogg at the other end.
Renegades won the match comfortably with 7 wickets and 9 balls remaining in the inning. Dwayne Bravo, was awarded player of the match for his five-for with the ball. DJ Bravo has also reached a landmark of 400 T20 wickets in his career.
