The cricketer with the most catches in One Day International (ODI) cricket is Mahela Jayawardene, who took 218 catches in 448 ODI matches. Jayawardene is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who played for the Sri Lankan national team from 1997 to 2015.
Jayawardene was a highly skilled batsman, scored 12650 runs in ODI cricket, but he was also an excellent fielder. He was known for his fielding skills in the slips, where he took many of his catches, and was also a reliable catcher in the outfield.
In addition to his remarkable record of taking most catches in ODIs, Jayawardene also took 205 catches in 142 Tests and 17 catches in just 55 T20Is; making him one of the most successful fielders in the history of the game.
Jayawardene was also an accomplished captain where he led Sri Lanka to the 2007 Cricket World Cup final, and was part of playing eleven of 2014 ICC World Twenty20 Final.
